Chemung County- Chemung County has surpassed yet another milestone with the County Prescription Drug Discount Card Program. At the end of November, residents within the county surpassed the $500,000 savings mark. Since the start of this program in November of 2009, residents have filled more than 14,000 prescriptions with an average savings of 51%, or $34.00.

Chemung County teamed up with ProAct, Inc. to ease the financial burden that many uninsured and underinsured residents experience when purchasing their prescriptions. The County Prescription Drug Discount Card Program also offers residents savings on vision, hearing, and LASIK services. This cost-free program has been made available for county residents through a partnership with ProAct, Inc. The ProAct Prescription Drug Discount Card Program has been exclusively endorsed by 47 counties across New York State. These counties have jointly filled over 2.4 million prescriptions which equates to over $70 million in savings.

“We are all well aware that prescription drug prices are steadily on the rise” said Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli. “This program has allowed for residents, both uninsured and underinsured, to experience financial relief at the pharmacy counter without the county or residents incurring any costs.”

The Prescription Drug Discount Card Program provides residents with easy access to money saving discounts. There are no prerequisites to take advantage of this program, simply present the discount card at any participating pharmacy and begin saving.

Prescription Drug Discount Cards are available at many local pharmacies and at various Chemung County departments, including: County Clerk’s Office, Health Department and Social Services. Residents with computer access can print a card any time by visiting www.NYRxDiscountCard.com.
